Coach Brent McCallie
Executive Director of Athletics
San Angelo Independent School District

Brent McCallie graduated from Sunray High School in 1978, continuing his education at Western Oklahoma State Jr. College on a baseball scholarship from 1978-1980. Brent completed his education at Panhandle State University, acquiring a Bachelor of Science degree in 1983. Brent also holds a CAA certificate with the NIAAA. Brent has been married to his wife, Karla for 34 years. Karla works as a Counselor with SAISD and together they have a son who is a junior at West Texas A&M University in Canyon.

Mr. Callie is entering his 35th year in education, spending 25 of those with Dumas ISD. For his first 12 years with Dumas, Brent served as the assistant coach for football and baseball, as well as the head coach for track. In 2003, Brent moved into a full-time athletic director position with Dumas ISD where he remained until 2008, before accepting the Athletic Director’s position with Canyon ISD. In 2015, Brent accepted the Executive Director of Athletics position with San Angelo ISD.

Brent commented, “I have been blessed to have worked with three Great Superintendents, Larry Appel in Dumas, Mike Wartes in Canyon, and Carl Dethloff in San Angelo. They are great leaders and I am very thankful for the opportunities I have been given. I have been fortunate over the past 35 years to have worked with some of the best coaches in the business.”

Brent is currently a member of the THSADA, THSCA, and TGCA. This is Brent’s first year as a THSADA Regional Director for Region II.
